DMA Technical Services

Change Energy's Safety Engineering Group

DMA Technical Services is the Safety Engineering arm of Change Energy Services Inc. DMA brings ‘Safety by Design’ expertise to the development and implementation of energy infrastructure projects deploying compressed gas fuels for vehicle refuelling, community energy, and process heating applications.  Our “Safety-by-Design” philosophy ensures that system safety is a fundamental design criterion for each phase of a Change Energy project.

Managing risk starts with design, however a focus on hardware alone is not enough. DMA believes that safe design begins with a comprehensive risk analysis that includes people, procedures, hardware, environment, and cost issues set within an Integrated Management System framework over the life cycle of the design.  We also believe in concurrent engineering in which people from construction, operations, maintenance and decommissioning are involved and their issues are identified and addressed early in the design process.

The design disciplines applied at DMA include:

·        Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)

·        Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)

·        Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

·        Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modelling

·        Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Assessment

DMA’s full range of services include:

·        Safety engineering

·        Risk audits and assessments

·        Emergency response plans

·        System safety certification to recognized international standards

·        Safety training

Who We Are

Working closely with Change Energy’s principals – Allan (Al) Davidson and Rymal (Ry) Smith – Dave Meston brings over 30 years of experience in management and engineering, primarily in the electrical utility industry.

A strong communicator and hands-on facilitator, Dave has led numerous safety audits and facilitated training sessions and workshops on Safety, Environmental and Quality Management.  Dave has developed BSI 18001-based safety management systems for various clients showing them how to reduce risk.  He has presented papers at several industry and educational conferences on Safety Design, Auditing/Investigation, Ergonomics, Accident Costing Models and Risk Analysis.  Dave also teaches various safety courses, as a part time professor at Ryerson University.

Dave is a licensed professional engineer residing and practising in the Province of Ontario.
